Zanskar, 12th September 2024 — As part of the 9th edition of the Ladakh Zanskar Festival, the Department of Education, UT Administration, and the International Institute for Culture & Ethics, in collaboration with the District Institute for Education and Training (DIET) Leh, successfully organized the 3rd phase of the “SEE Learning Workshop” at Model Government Degree College, Zanskar. This one-day workshop, which focused on Social, Emotional, and Ethical (SEE) Learning, was conducted on 12th September 2024, commencing at 10:00 AM.
The workshop was spearheaded by two master trainers, Sh. Tsering Wangdus and Smt. Thinless Wangmo, both hailing from Leh. They were supported by Smt. Phuntsog Dolma, a lecturer in psychology, and Smt. Thinless. Their expertise ensured that the event was both educational and insightful, providing valuable tools to participants on integrating social, emotional, and ethical learning into education systems.
The initiative, part of a broader effort to promote SEE Learning across the region, was conducted in association with the Chief Education Officer, Kargil, the Principal of Model Government Degree College, Zanskar, the International Institute for Culture & Ethics, and the District Institute for Education & Training (Leh/Kargil).
Special thanks were extended to Sh. Nazeer, Deputy Secretary of the Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages, for facilitating the smooth organization of the event. Smt. Deldan Angmo, Principal of DIET Leh, also played a crucial role in ensuring the participation of the master trainers who conducted the workshop.
The Chief Education Officer, Kargil, had earlier nominated teachers from various government and private schools in Zanskar to participate in the workshop. A list of the participating teachers and students was prepared and shared with the relevant authorities to ensure smooth coordination.
The event highlighted the increasing emphasis on incorporating SEE Learning in educational curricula to promote holistic student development. With the support of the UT administration and the education department, the workshop was a resounding success and marked another significant step toward fostering a more emotionally and ethically aware student population in Ladakh.
About SEE Learning: SEE Learning, or Social, Emotional, and Ethical Learning, is an educational framework that aims to equip students with essential life skills, promoting self-awareness, empathy, and responsible decision-making. The framework encourages ethical thinking and emotional regulation, contributing to a more compassionate society.
This workshop is a testament to the continuous efforts of the UT Administration, Department of Education, and partnering institutions to foster such learning across the Ladakh region.
