On 19th Sept 2020, one day webinar was conducted on the topic “Convergence and Divergence between Modern Science and Indian Wisdom Tradition” by Flowering Dharma under the “Holding of Special Courses on Promotion of Buddhist/Tibetan Arts and Culture (BTI) Scheme of the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India”.
The Session was led by the honorable speaker Ven. Geshe Dorji Damdul, Director, Tibet House, Cultural Centre of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, New Delhi. It was a 2 hour program from 5pm to 7 pm. The program began with introduction of Geshe la by Ms. Lobsang Wangmu. The talk was followed by Q&A session, with diverse questions put forward by the participants. Mr. Ghan Sham Thapa coordinated the Q&A session with all the participants and Tibet House in Delhi.
Geshe la elaborated in detail the numerous concepts like Emptiness of objective existence / Dependent Origination, Ultimate Reality, Shunyata Philosophy etc. He also examined the link between Dependent Origination v/s Quantum Entanglement, Non-Locality and Teleportation. Also, the concept of Two Truths in Heart Sutra v/s Contemporary Physics was analysed. A total of 108 participants registered for the webinar.
Participants from various countries like US, Brazil, Russia, Singapore, Nepal, Costa Rica etc joined the session. Also participants from various parts of India, like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Assam, Darjeeling, Sikkim etc joined the program. The session was also live streamed on the facebook page of Flowering Dharma.
At the end of the talk, Geshe la provided a list of suggested readings for the participants to be able to study more in depth the concept of Modern Science and Indian Philosophy. These included the books by His Holiness like, Universe in a Single Atom, Beyond Religion, etc. Also the list included books like Sleeping, Dreaming and Dying, Gentle Bridges and Destructive Emotions by Mind and Life. Mr. Tashi Namgyal, Director, Flowering Dharma presented the thank you note at the end.
