With the onset of a new year Flowering Dharma and Tibet House, Cultural Centre of HH Dalai Lama, New Delhi, jointly launched the second batch of PANORAMA CERTIFICATE COURSE in Delhi.
This one month course will be led by the Director of Tibet House, Ven Geshe Dorji Damdul, a renowned Buddhist scholar and practitioner who have received his education from Drepung Loseling Institute (Karnataka), Institute Of Buddhist Dialects (Dharamshala) and Cambridge University. He was also a visiting fellow at Girton College, Cambridge University.
Geshe la was appointed as the official English translator to H.H. the Dalai Lama since 2005 and assigned as the Philosophy Lecturer for the Emory University Study Abroad Program. In 2009 he was personally sent by HH Dalai Lama on request of the VC of Delhi University and since then he has been giving lectures and taking regular classes on Buddhist Philosophy in Tibet House. He has a good command on both Philosophy and Modern Science and is a key figure in this subject. He has written several papers on Buddhist science and also presented in many conferences and seminars.
Panorama is a month long course with two classes each week from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm in the Tibet House. The course covers the basic tenets of Buddhist Philosophy, Psychology, Science and Practice. It aims to give an overview of key principles of Buddhism such as Buddhist Psychology, Bodhicitta, Emptiness, Dependent Origination and Law of Karma. 70 students have registered for the course through an online registration process. The first session on 4th January was the orientation class led by Ms.Pooja Dabral, a Doctoral Candidate in Buddhist Philosophy at University of Delhi and a long time student of Tibet House under Geshe Dorji Damdul la.
